Why do Republicans trust the same robber barons who crashed out economy to regulate themselves?

Their reasoning is those people are the only ones who can navigate us out of the mess. That's like saying Joseph Hazelwood is the only one who can captain the new Exxon Super Tanker, it simply isn't true, but the ones in charge are still drunk with greed and they have just enough power left to stay in charge.
