Should breast nodules be removed?

Had routine mammogram and found a large nodule in right breast. Dr. reordered mammogram on right breast only and an ultrasound. Ultrasound showed that the nodule was not cancerous but recommended another in 6 months. My mother is breast cancer survivor. She had lumpectomy and radiation therapy but has been cancer free. Should I get this nodule removed now as a precaution?
