My Music skips when only played from my slave hard drive, Why?

It started when my CMOS battery went out. I replaced it. The rest of my computer is running fine. When I play music with ANY program it skips from the E drive, not the C drive. Windows XP SP3.When I move the music file from my E drive to my C drive it plays with no skips. My sound card was updated one month ago. My sound card doesn't seem to be a problem since everything plays fine from the C drive. HELP!
