Sims 2 Double Deluxe for 20$ or Sims 3 Deluxe for 50$?

I only played Sims 3 for week on my friends computer and LOVED it. I wanted to get it so bad. But after reading reviews, rants, discussions I'm suddenly conflicted and think that Sims 2 with more expansion packs would be better for me (I have like little money...). I LOVE LOVE LOVE the stories I can create with Sims, and could care less about building houses and stuff. I love the social aspect and complex story plots. I love controlling people and see how their personalities develop. PLEASE HELP xP
