High res movies getting stuck on my pc.?

ive p4 system with xp sp2..when im Trying to play high res movies,the movies are getting stuck where as normal movies are playing fine.,i've updated drivers,installed codec and formatted my system but no use..till last month all the movies were playing smoothly on my pc but not now..please suggest me what 2 do..
