How do I put a friends photos on to a disc for them.?

I have the instructions for my own camera installed on my p.c. (desktop) but is there a shortcut to putting photos from other cameras'phones?? I'm old and quite stupid (very) so simple instructions would be appreciated. I've Windows XP. Thank you
